Meet the Maker

STEVEN SANDER

Steven began studying furniture design in 2008. He developed a passion for traditional, early American furniture techniques and forms. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Furniture Design from Herron School of Art and Design, Indiana University in 2012.  While at Herron, Steven was encouraged to use his extensive knowledge of traditional American furnishings as a means to expand and strengthen his design proficiency.  Steven’s appreciation of this style is evident in much of his current work, where he uses the traditional as a “jumping-off” point, manipulating certain elements, such as table tops or turned legs, in innovative and experimental ways.
